Every Hawser feature, on one page
Staying on task
The core loop: one mission, real awareness, and a nudge at the right moment.
Daily mission
Commit to one thing for the day and watch a focus ring fill as you put real minutes toward it.
Today's tasks
A small task list tied to your mission: add, check off, reorder, break a task into subtasks with AI help.
Focus profiles
Save a whole setup (mission plus what's blocked) and switch into it in one tap.
Block apps
Force-close distracting apps the moment they open.
Time-limit apps
Warn after a few minutes, hard-close later; global thresholds or per-app overrides.
Block websites
Domain-level website blocking (site blocking needs admin rights once).
Block whole categories
Games, social, shopping, streaming, gambling, adult: each in one switch.
Fullscreen-only flags
Allow an app windowed (YouTube as a reference next to your work) but flag it when it goes fullscreen.
Schedules
Auto-switch whole rule sets by time and day: strict during work hours, loose in the evening, off on weekends.
AI nudges & hard blocks
A gentle, personal nudge first; a full-screen block only when you asked for one.
Context-aware judgment
Hawser reads your last 20 minutes of activity before judging drift, so troubleshooting an error for your mission doesn't count as slacking. When in doubt, it gives you the benefit of the doubt.
Proactive check-ins
The companion notices drift and checks in on a schedule you control (hours, days, frequency).
Friction prompt
On your first switch to a moderated app, a quick "what's pulling you there right now?" breaks autopilot.
Contextual nudges
Celebrates a long focus run, offers one small late-day win if the goal isn't done, re-engages lightly when you return from idle.
Immersion-aware nudging
If you're locked into a game or deep focus, soft nudges wait for a natural break instead of interrupting mid-action.
Busy-wait detection
Recognizes compiles, downloads, and transfers, and holds nudges while you're genuinely waiting.
Away mode
Tell Hawser you're stepping away and everything pauses, stats included, until it sees you're back at the keyboard. Or say "stay off until 3pm."
Avoidance check-in
If everything's been muted for hours, it gently asks whether the quiet is rest or hiding. One tap either way.
Progressive firmness opt in
Keep drifting day after day and the voice gets more direct: fewer cushions, never contempt.
Auto-enforce opt in
At sustained high drift, Hawser closes the drift app itself, always after a 20 second countdown with an escape hatch.
Nudge personalities opt in
Roast me (comedy that sharpens as you drift), Clingy girlfriend ("would you still love me if I was a worm?"), and Brutal, which just insults you and ships with a warning label.
Adaptive suggestions
A weekly pass proposes settings changes that fit how you actually behave; you review before anything applies.
Body doubling
Presence beats willpower. What is body doubling?
Co-working sessions
Pick what you're working on and a duration; Hawser sits with you through the block with a live timer, an "I'm stuck" button, and a warm check-out.
Halfway check-in
One optional mid-session "still with you" for longer blocks. Turn it off for pure silent presence.
Friend on a call opt in
During a session, the AI occasionally offers a concrete next step, capped so it never becomes noise.
Take a break
Tell it "I'm playing games for an hour" and it goes quiet, no nagging, then resumes.
Auto-quiet on calls
When your mic is live it holds every popup so nothing lands on a screen share. It reads mic on/off state only, never audio.
Daily rituals & recovery
Shutdown ritual
End the day on purpose: review what got done, roll tasks forward, plan tomorrow, get told you're done.
Daily reflection
Once a day the companion opens with an observation and a couple of honest questions about how it went.
Compassionate failure mode
Set a mission and miss it, and you get warmth instead of a guilt trip. No streak shame, ever.
Weekly retrospective
Once a week the reflection zooms out across your last 7 days of missions and patterns.
Welcome-back capsule
Come back from a long interruption and a quiet pill reminds you exactly where you left off and what's next.
Wins
Log wins in one line and browse the timeline when you need proof you're moving.
Celebrations
Finish the mission and the app actually celebrates: confetti, a big checkmark, and an acknowledgment after long focus stretches.
Share my week
One click builds a markdown summary of your week to send to an accountability partner. Nothing leaves your machine until you hit send.
Mission templates
Reusable presets for days that repeat.
Wellbeing
Calm-down mode
Overwhelmed? Pause everything for a chosen rest, dump what's pulling at you, and get a grounding message. Rests are never tracked against you.
Calm-down suggestion
After a long distracted stretch it softly offers the reset, and never auto-opens anything.
Self-care breaks
Gentle posture, eye-rest (20-20-20), and hydration prompts, each individually toggleable, as a toast or a proper break screen.
Goals & roadmap
Roadmap beta
Break big goals down by horizon, year to day; finishing small ones rolls progress up automatically.
Pull a goal into today
Send any roadmap goal straight into today's mission as a linked task.
Roadmap-aware nudging
Working on a long-term goal counts as focus, even when it's not today's mission.
My Goals profile
Tell Hawser who you are and what you're working toward so every nudge fits you, and edit what it remembers any time.
The companion
A full assistant, not a check-in box. Summon it anywhere with Ctrl+Alt+C.
Companion chat
Floating card, snapped sidebar, or tiny bubble; always a click away, on top of any app.
Configure by talking
"Block YouTube after 20 minutes", "no games on weekday afternoons": it sets the rules for you.
Run your day from chat
Add tasks, mark things done, change today's goal, set reminders, log wins, start a co-work block, switch focus modes.
Build goals & decks from chat
"Add a goal to write a novel", "make a Spanish deck with these cards".
See your screen opt in
Ask "what's on my screen?" and it looks, only when you ask, and only if you've enabled cloud screenshots.
Confirm before apply
Every change the companion proposes shows an Apply / Dismiss card by default. It can never claim it did something it didn't; a safeguard checks every reply.
Capture & memory
Brain Dump
Drop any loose thought, typed or spoken, and get it out of your head.
Auto-categorize
Each capture lands as a task, reminder, idea, note, or question on its own.
Smart reminder detection
Say "remind me at 3pm to call Mom" anywhere, chat or capture, and it offers to schedule the real thing.
Travel-aware reminders
"Dentist at 3, 25 minutes away" and it back-computes when to actually leave, prep buffer included.
Reminders, your way
Fire as a premium top-of-screen capsule, a full-screen takeover, a corner toast, or a tray notification.
Search, pin & auto-archive
Find any capture, pin what matters, and stale unpinned items archive themselves after 30 days.
Notes
A real markdown notebook: live highlighting, preview, pinning, wiki-style links between notes, export to .md.
Clock
Timers, a stopwatch with laps, and repeating alarms, with a pop-out mini window and a chime plus capsule when time's up.
Learning
Spaced-repetition flashcards
SM-2 scheduling resurfaces each card right as you're about to forget it.
Audio cards
Hear a clip, name it, reveal. Built for music intervals and pronunciation.
Import Anki decks
Bring your .apkg decks in, audio included.
AI deck generator
Describe a topic and Hawser writes the deck for you.
Find decks online
Search AnkiWeb's shared decks and import one without leaving the app.
Review reminders
A gentle "cards are ready" toast when enough reviews are due, never spammy.
Ambient review beta opt in
A card quietly surfaces while you work, on your cadence, with daily caps, so learning happens all day instead of in one cram.
Voice & text tools
System-wide helpers on global hotkeys (all rebindable).
Dictate anywhere beta
Ctrl+Alt+D talks into any app with a live waveform pill; confirm to insert.
Dictation styles
Auto-clean mishears, or rewrite what you said as professional, casual, concise, or a custom style you define.
In-field mic
A mic button on Hawser's own text fields for quick voice input.
Quick capture
Ctrl+Alt+A speak a thought from anywhere; it lands in Brain Dump.
Quick add
Ctrl+Alt+T type a task straight into today's mission from any app.
The Helm
Ctrl+Alt+H a summon-anywhere HUD: glance at your day, quick actions, and a talk/type line to the companion.
Screenshot assist
Ctrl+Alt+S snip a region and ask about it: explain this error, summarize this, draft a reply.
Clipboard history
Ctrl+Alt+V an in-memory clipboard picker that never writes your clips to disk.
Text transform
Ctrl+Alt+X run AI transforms on whatever's in your clipboard.
Write into field
Ctrl+Alt+W describe what you want written, review it, and it lands in the field you had focused.
Rewrite selection
Ctrl+Alt+R rewrite selected text in a chosen tone and paste it back in place.
Selection actions
Ctrl+Alt+G summarize, reply, translate, extract, calculate, or turn a selection into reminders or tasks.
Smart paste
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V strips junk formatting and pastes clean text.
Snippets
Ctrl+Alt+J a searchable snippet picker, plus inline expansion that types a snippet when you type its shortcut.
Teleprompter
Ctrl+Alt+P a script overlay on your screen that stays invisible to recordings and calls.
Insights
Your rhythm
Weekly analysis of your real patterns: peak focus window, best and drift-prone weekdays, top distractions.
History
Day-by-day missions, focused vs distracted minutes, and what actually happened.
Notifications & quiet control
Do Not Disturb
One click silences nudges for 30 minutes, an hour, two, until tomorrow, or until you say so.
Per-type quiet modes
Mute just learning pop-ups, or just reminders, or just focus nudges, each on its own timer.
Call & OBS override
Choose whether nudges are allowed during calls and while streaming software runs.
Daily & weekly summaries
An end-of-day recap by default; a weekly email-style digest if you want one.
Sounds opt in
Soft, generated audio cues for completions and reminders. Off until you want them.
Customization & accessibility
Color palettes
Recolor the whole app from presets or any custom hex.
High contrast
Brighter text and borders, applied live.
Reduce motion
Strips fades, slides, confetti, and glow for a completely still interface.
Text & UI scaling
Normal, large, or larger, across the whole app.
Readable font option
Swap to a plainer, wider font if that reads easier for you.
Rebindable shortcuts
Every global hotkey can be changed, and there's a cheat sheet.
Companion appearance
Floating, sidebar (left or right), or bubble; always-on-top and show-on-startup are your call.
Quality-of-life defaults
Run on Windows login, reopen your last tab, suppress overlays during fullscreen video or games.
Privacy & data
Local-first by design. The honest version, not the marketing version.
Local-first data
Your missions, captures, and history live on your machine. You can read, edit, and delete what Hawser remembers about you.
Cloud screenshots: off by default
Fresh installs never send a screenshot until you turn vision features on, and there's an ask-before-every-send mode.
Screenshot size & quality caps
Control resolution and compression of anything that is sent, trading detail for privacy.
Tracking toggles
Turn off window-title tracking, idle tracking, or activity tracking entirely, each independently.
Sensitive-context guard
Add app names and title keywords (banking, medical, whatever you choose) where Hawser goes blind and quiet automatically.
Hide from screen capture opt in
Exclude every Hawser window from Zoom, Discord, OBS, and screenshots, so your accountability stays yours.
Encrypted backups opt in
Manual or scheduled AES-256 encrypted backups, password held in Windows Credential Manager.
Export anytime
Your data leaves with you in one click, no questions.
Local AI option advanced
Point Hawser at a local model (embedded llama.cpp or Ollama) if you want inference on your own hardware. Honest note: this takes setup and is weaker than the cloud AI today.
Keys in Credential Manager
License tokens and any personal API key live in Windows Credential Manager, never in a plaintext config file.
Account & what's coming
7 day free trial
Sign in with email, no card. Hosted AI is included, so there's no API key to bring.
Sync across devices preview
Built and being tested, not live yet. Your data stays local until this ships.
Mac version planned
Windows first, Mac groundwork already laid. On the roadmap for this year.
Finding your way around
In-app feature directory
This exact list lives inside the app too, searchable, with jump links that open each feature.
Guided tour & per-tab help
Every tab has a plain-English explainer and its own settings shortcut; a tour walks new users through all of it.
Feedback, one click away
A header button that goes straight to the founder. Every report shapes what gets fixed next.
Why this page exists: I'm Jacob, and Hawser is a one-person company. Feature lists on most sites show you six icons and a wave of adjectives. I'd rather show you everything, label the rough parts honestly, and let you decide. If something on this list is the thing you've been looking for, the trial is free and takes two minutes.
